Master of Barricades plays a critical role in construction safety.
Las Vegas is experiencing a dynamic wave of development, with a mix of large-scale infrastructure, entertainment, hospitality, and residential projects that will reshape the city once again. This includes everything from the $1.75 billion Athletics Stadium and the $6.5 billion LVXP Mega-Complex to the Arts District loft expansion and five new schools, all of which were completed this year alone.
Along with these changes that will once again redefine the skyline, infrastructure is continually being enhanced and upgraded throughout the county. For example, the development of the Apex Industrial Park and other residential projects in North Las Vegas will necessitate the widening of roads like U.S. 93, a high speed fiber optic network, a new $40 million electric grid expansion, and $100 million in water main extensions and pump stations to ensure adequate supply.

All of these related projects require their own timelines and specification, which underscores why growth and transformation of this metropolitan area means more construction zones. This is also where effective traffic and pedestrian control comes in to play, serving as the backbone for traffic and pedestrian safety.
To meet these needs, Master of Barricades (MOB Traffic) has grown to become the largest privately owned traffic control business in the region. It’s success can be traced to relationships developed by our four principals — all of whom have more than 25 years of experience in traffic control — and experienced management team. It also has a reputation for playing a critical role in regional construction.
- Responsive Planning. MOB Traffic’s planning department delivers compliant traffic control plans with a swift turnaround. Plans typically include the legal and regional HSE requirements outlined by different jurisdiction, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Plans often span multiple jurisdictions like Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Clark County, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), or Bureau of Land Management.
- Diversified Experience. MOB Traffic’s experience includes construction for infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy, transportation, education, military, and local government projects. Typical assignments range from rapid response service in emergencies to multi-million dollar projects completed in phases. In addition to construction, MOB Traffic provides support for the largest special events in Southern Nevada, including those that take place in some of the most restrictive areas in the world.

- Expansive Resources. Mob Traffic has an expansive fleet of more than 50 vehicles, including 20 flatbed trucks for technicians and two minivans for flaggers. The fleet is used to safely delivery and pick up of dozens of arrow and message boards, signs, delineators, cones, concrete barriers, water rail, and other equipment to job sites all over the valley every day. The operation is so scalable, MOB Traffic is often tapped for projects that exceed 10,000 delineators and barricades at a time.
- Reputable Teams. All MOB Traffic supervisors, managers, and founders have worked from the ground up, providing a unique perspective that can’t be found anywhere else. This level of experience extends to many flaggers, traffic control technicians, shop/yard workers, and plan drafters. Traffic control technicians and shop/yard workers must be at least 23 years of age and pass a drug test. Some positions require a valid driver’s license and OSHA 10 certification. MOB Traffic assists with most CPR/first aid and ATSSA certifications.
Together, these assets work to maximize safety in construction zones, going beyond redirecting vehicles and pedestrians. Given that construction zones are dynamic, with conditions changing daily, MOB Traffic works to create a predictable environment for anyone in and around the area, including crews, motorists, and pedestrians.
Being proactive and predictable is the first line of defense against a poorly managed work zone that can lead to confusion, unexpected lane changes, and panicked speeding. Carefully planned deployments and well-executed tapers minimize traffic disruptions and accidents. MOB Traffic efforts to improve traffic control safety is one of the reasons Nevada accounts for less than two percent of all work zone crashes that occur in the United States per year.

Recently, because of an uptick in accidents statewide, Governor Joe Lombardo joined various public officials to promote the Associated General Contractors of Nevada’s Respect the Cone Campaign in May. The campaign urges drivers to slow down and be cautious around construction areas, emphasizing that workers have families waiting for them at home. The campaign goes a long way in reminding the public to be patient and aware in work zones while MOB Traffic continues to emphasize the importance of trained professionals who are adept at managing traffic flow, using clear signals and communication to guide drivers safely.
As Las Vegas undergoes yet another transformative wave of construction, from the Athletics Stadium to infrastructure upgrades, MOB Traffic’s streamlined traffic and pedestrian control solutions ensure safety and efficiency for the industry and community. Providing rapid planning, high-quality equipment, expert flaggers, and scalable teams makes them an integral part of the city’s development.
